Belkin Basic Wireless USB Review
After reading reviews on a lot of USB wireless adapters, I came away with the idea that quality control is a real issue. No matter what brand you buy, they all have issues. I've had generally good luck with Belkin stuff, so I bought one of these to hook my HP Desktop with XP SP3 to my Palm Pixie Hotspot. Because of all the horror stories I've read, I did an image backup of my system first, but I didn't need it. I followed the directions by letting the CD do its install, then plugged in the wireless adapter when prompted. Not only did it work without a hitch, but it is slightly faster than my HP Elitebook's built-in wireless. I haven't really pushed the distance aspect yet, as my Hotspot is fairly close by. I just leave it plugged in, and connect off the bottom task bar whenever I have a need for fast Internet. They make fancier, but for what I was looking for, it works great.
